Most branding is centered on the idea of being inclusive and finding ways to expand targeted demographics. This project however is meant to expose students to the concepts and theories of exclusive branding.

Exclusive branding is the creation of an idea or feeling of being special and unique. This project introduces these concepts while also teaching students the basic information about invitation and branding systems. Over the years the project has handled this by restricting the “client” to either a secret society, or exclusive club/organization.

Gore Girls
In 2023 I changed some of the project specifications to eliminate some of the secrecy which allowed students to open up the subject matter for their client.
The Gore Girls is a social club of female horror movie aficionados who love the gory classics. This set comes with Seven inspired box filled with a vhs and invitation (very glad it wasn’t a severed head…).
Dear Reader,
The Dear Reader, Social Club is a group dedicated to the art of letter writing and penpals. This is comes with a postcard RSVP, calendar save-the-date, and a stamp as a souvenir from the event.
La Ligue du Chateau d’If
La Ligue du Chateau d’If is a secret society dedicated to the exposure of corrupt people in power. It is named after the prison in The Count of Monte Cristo. Its members hack people to expose their crimes, exposing the glitches in the system. For this design the student created a save the date and invitation set. Elegant elements were used that recall the French aristocracy. However, there is always a glitch in the design, hiding a secret message for the hacker to decipher.
Holy Order of Godly Provision
The Holy Order of Godly Provisions is a secret society based off of the story of the Prophet Elijah and the provisions he was provided by God through a crow. The order is meant to be a secret society within the Catholic Church that selflessly provides provision to the needy. This set included a rosary cross/key, a holy relic as a promotional piece, and was foil stamped.
The Society of Kidnapped Knights
The Society of Kidnapped Knights is a group of John Wick – style badasses who battle sex traffickers and slave traders. This set is unique in that the student created her own language using the Cherokee syllabary as the foundation and then created a pictographs based on icons relevant to the society (swords, guns, castles, etc.) to represent each syllable. The set is primarily foiled in pewter and includes signet ring as a promotional item and a uv tattoo for entry.
